Time & Money Savers

So, recently I made a couple of purchases that I really need to share.  I am super paranoid hauling my boat around anywhere and it’s been that way for a while after having a bearing on one of the tires on my trailer actually weld itself on to the axle years ago.  It ended up costing me a whole new axle and has become one of the main reasons, I try my best NOT to borrow anyone elses equipment.  Prior to any tournament, I check everything visible on my boat and trailer and have neglected to check the air pressure in my tires so many times.  BUT, I have found a solution…….several years ago at one of our LBAA tournaments, Cheryl Bowden had a product that would monitor the air pressure in your trailer tires…..and I wanted it bad.  Recently, I’ve discovered a slow leak in one of my trailer tires, as in leaking down 5 pounds every few days and I could not find the leak.  After finally taking it in to get fixed….it was a tiny pin hole that would not leak if it was on the bottom when parked, I started checking for the product that Cheryl had at that tournament and much to my surprise, they are fairly inexpensive so I purchased it and it is now installed on each one of my trailer tires and I can monitor my air pressure any time.

With the hot summer months and so many anglers having issues with fish expiring in their live wells, I wanted to go the extra mile and find something that I could have to monitor the water temperature in my live wells.  I’ve heard of several boat brands that have a cooler plate inside the live well and since a new boat is not an option for me…..I found a digital thermometer that attaches to the inside of the live well and the temperature can be displayed on the outside.  This product was also quite inexpensive and absolutely a life saver in maintaining the quality of my fish.

I am attaching photos of both these products and I encourage you to think outside the box on ideas that you feel could improve the safety of your travel time and ensure fish are in better condition when released than when they were caught.
